Working with Merredith over the last year to get Language Design Group up and running I’ve realized that keeping accurate expense sheets and mileage reports is really a complicated process. We’ve searched the web for a good solution but there doesn’t seem to be any definitive source that’s made expense reporting easy.

This ultimately led Jimmy and I to come up with our own solution to this general nuisance of record keeping.

We’ve been working on a web based application that we’re calling PenceBook.

PenceBook aims to make expense reports and mileage tracking as simple as possible. Handwritten mileage logs and expense sheets are exceedingly cumbersome. We have a couple ideas up our sleeves that we hope will eliminate the majority of these pains.

By popular demand, a Candor Gallery Gadget now exists for Google Homepage users. I think this was the best solution for users that aren’t always in front of a Mac or who simply aren’t Mac users at all. It’s not as elegant of an experience as Dashboard can provide, but it’s largely the same functionality. Creating the Gadget was fun. They’re similar to Widgets in that it’s all HTML and Javascript. Gadgets keep everything in one file wrapped in an XML container. Candor Gallery has been included in the most recent issue of iCreate Magazine on the free software and resource CD that comes bundled with the magazine. iCreate is full of how-to articles relating to mostly consumer applications created by Apple. (iDVD, iWeb, iMovie, etc.)

It’s very exciting to have Candor “published.” Issue #41 will be on newstands in England for another 3 days, but should be available in the U.S. for a few weeks longer.

Candor Gallery has received 64 new images in the last two days. It’s getting closer and closer to the 1000 image mark. Thanks to everyone who is contributing to the project!
