DreamHost Photos

February 28th, 2007 | 11:52 pm cdt

As a customer of DreamHost, (midnightcheese.com is hosted by APlus.net) I just don’t feel confident in their services when I see images like this on their homepage. And this image is rather tame compared to some of the others that rotate through.

Livin' large at DreamHost

What kind of assumptions can we make from this photo?

  • DreamHost employees are too busy living it up to worry about your hosting.
  • DreamHost is run by a bunch of overweight kids.
  • DreamHost is living large off your cash.

I feel sorry for those kids, too. They need serious help with their weight or they’re going to be in serious trouble in just a handful of years. They definitely don’t deserve to be posted on the net like that.

I just don’t get a feeling of professionalism from DreamHost anymore. And it seems to show in their quality of service during the last few months.

Update: Red Sweater weighs in on DreamHost’s recent super lame apology. I think it’s possible they’ve lost their minds.

Candor Update

February 10th, 2007 | 3:45 pm cdt

Candor Gallery Widget

Candor has been given an update. Version 1.2 now includes a previous button so users can easily see the last image that was displayed.

With a lot of help from Ernie and his stellar PHP skills, we’ve created a web gallery that displays all the works that have been included in Candor.

And a smaller detail: The widget will now pop up a little notification when a new version of Candor has been released. This should avoid having to send email out to a large list of current participants.

Local News in HD

February 3rd, 2007 | 12:12 am cdt

Channel 5 broadcast the local news in HD this evening. The best looking part of local news in HD? Probably the weather maps. Lots of detail and bright color.

They don’t seem to be shooting field footage in HD, but it is in widescreen. They also did a story on the rise of HDTV sales. Sadly the story was shot in SD. They also tried to show an SD and HD TV set side-by-side for viewers to compare. Well… if you’re watching on an SD set, it’s pretty much impossible to tell a difference now, isn’t it?

So the same idiocy exists, but now it’s in high-res! Yay!

Here are a few screenshots. Clicking the images will load high-res images at 720P. Here’s one in full 1080i.
