It's almost like there's some type of reflective panel back there, because as you move your head or tilt the screen, the brightness kind of rolls along with the tilt. So I think that brightness increase at the base has to do with the angle you look at the screen. Battery life is running just over 3 hours according to the battery menu. I haven't done a full battery calibration yet, as outlined in the manual, however. Heat hasn't been an issue, yet. It looks like it from the photo as there is a noticeable increase in brightness at the base of your screen, but I am not sure. Have you tried out the battery life yet? How is the heat?
