Today be talk like a pirate day! ARRRR!
I was starting to get lots of unexplainable PHP error messages on the site recently, and rather than try to go through the hassle of fixing whatever might be wrong(it didn’t seem to be a whitespace issue), I decided to just upgrade to WordPress 1.5. So bear with the site as it slowly makes a transition into something that’s not a template.
Many people have noticed gap.com, oldnavy.com and bananarepublic.com have all been offline for quite some time. Turns out they’ve been busy reinventing online commerce, most notably by eliminating a lot of clicking when navigating through their websites. Instead of clicking back and forth between pages to view product details, all those details like price, size, and color all show up as a little rollover/popup window. There’s a good article at SeattlePI, along with a write-up and screenshots of the new site in action, at SpeakUp. This is certainly something all web designers and programmers should watch carefully.
I turned on Letterman for the first time in a long time and was delighted to see CBS finally broadcasting the show in HD. He looks a bit older with all that extra detail, but still my favorite late-night personality, nonetheless. You can click the above image for a full sized HDTV screen grab.
