Spring Break

March 17th, 2005 | 8:28 am cdt

Tomorrow I leave for a much anticipated spring break in Orlando. I got a truckload of stuff done yesterday to prepare: Finally(hopefully) got my car issue fixed by replacing the throttle body, got numerous chores done(dishes, trash, etc.), got the fishtank vacuumed out and replacement water put in, and even got a little freelance work furthered along.

Today I need to get the slow leak in my tire fixed, get vacation food for the fish, burn some mix CDs for the road, and pack everything up for tomorrow.

Firefox Search Plug-in

Today I taught myself how to write a search plug-in for Firefox. I made one for tapeonline.com that easily installs with a single click of the mouse. You can test it out here.

A word on /.

March 7th, 2005 | 9:10 am cdt

It’s time for a change. As of late you’re letting anything and everything get posted as newsworthy, all the while becoming increasingly cynical. That’s assuming the news report you’re posting is even true at all. And what’s up with some of these poll questions? It’s time to be a bit more objective. Let’s stop pandering to the script kiddies and go back to the old adage, News for Nerds. Stuff that Matters.

And P.S. Please, PLEASE for the love of all that is sane and just in this world, lose the italic font on the story descriptions. It’s PAINFUL. Oh, it hurts my eyes so!

The Video Company

March 6th, 2005 | 11:28 pm cdt

The Video Company website went live this weekend. I think overall it turned out well. It’s completely W3C CSS and XHTML compliant, weighing in at 388K not including the downloadable PDF documents. I kind of wish we had developed the logo before the site design, just so the two would tie in a bit better. Maybe a bit more flash on the home page. My favorite page is the directions page. For whatever reason I really enjoyed drawing out the maps. I think they look very clear and informative.
